Wait.... it's FREE?

Yes, it's free, and it's fresh off the skillet!

Thank you to all the awesome people that came out to the Indie Craft Revolution and participated in the FRESH BREAD collaboration! With all of your submissions, the project will go on!

take, break, & eat....

Spread the word!!!! I'll be PRINTING FRESH BREAD at Indie Craft Revolution being held at The St. Louis Artists' Guild NEXT WEEKEND, March 13 and 14. Come out, write down your promises, and share some delicious flatbread & hummus (all homemade, YUM.)

You might be seeing some of these posters around town....

The secret is, the posters fold down into a small, letterpress book. It accompanies the project: take, break, & eat. You can spy them at various locations including the Loop, Cherokee St., and Brentwood... Happy searching. Hope to see you at the Indie Craft Revolution!!

Fresh Bread Prints LIVE!!!!

take, break, & eat (an edible collaboration)

FRESH BREAD explores the meaning of covenant and community, specifically in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What do covenant, community, and peace look like in a divided Jerusalem?

Handwritten promises (that’s your part) are silkscreened with EDIBLE INK (that’s my part) onto a delicious, Middle Eastern flatbread called laffa. Each batch of bread is printed with personal promises submitted by participants as well as segments of covenants, agreements, and treaties related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The bread is made and printed before your very eyes and served hot off the skillet for you to break and share.

In the act of breaking bread, everyone shares the same surface--that of the bread--a type of 'political site' on which every human promise, commitment, and covenant has the potential to be broken.

How to Collaborate

step 1: Think of TWO covenants/pacts/agreements/promises that you have made or have been made to you - ONE that has been kept and ONE that has been broken. Write them down on a piece of paper.

step 2: You can submit two ways. First, submissions can be given directly to me at FRESH BREAD events, which will be announced here on the blog. If you are not in the St. Louis area, you can can your submission and email it to printfreshbread@gmail.com as a JPG (300 dpi, no smaller than 4 inches)

step 3: Check www.printfreshbread.blogspot.com to find out the times and locations of printing/breaking/eating events, where covenant submissions will be screenprinted with edible ink onto fresh, hot flatbread! Each submission will be documented on the blog.
